Due to the recent tide of terrorism in Pakistan and also due to the flour and power crisis, people have almost forgotten the Cricket. Another reason, Pakistanis aren’t feeling much enthusiastic about their beloved game is the dismal team performances over all these years. In cricket arena of today, Pakistan hasn’t got much to celebrate about.
In these time, the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe is doing very little to cheer-up the plummeted spirits of the nation. For one, Zimbabwe are the minnows and a very broken team, secondly still people don’t have much to see in their own team.
People have grown tired of discussing the lack of talent, dearth of bench strength and dilapidated plight of opening pair, middle order and late order batting, wicket-keeping, bowling and fielding.
The lackluster Pakistani skipper Shoaib Malik has either grown very tired of the screwed-up team, whose some players are mocking each other, some are vying for Indian Cricket League (ICL) and Indian Premier League, some are eyeing the bollywood, and some are sulking, and some are wallowing.
The hapless Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is again looking towards Younus Khan to lead Pakistan in absence of an unfit Shoaib Malik during the forthcoming One-day International series against Zimbabwe.
Look at how low the yardsticks of PCB have fallen after reading this statement by a PCB source,” Younis is PCB’s first option since it was under his captaincy that Pakistan drew two Tests against India in the last series after losing the first one under Shoaib Malik.”
It’s time something drastic must be done to save cricket in Pakistan, and it seems hopeless under the chairmanship of Dr. Nasim Ashraf, as he has now spent ample time in the office without delivering anything.More on:Dr. Nasim Ashraf, Pakistan, PCB, Shoaib Malik, tour, Younus Khan, Zimbabawe, Zimbabwe in Pakistan 2008
