Talat Ali hoping for a strong comeback

Pakistan cricket team’s manager, Talat Ali Malik is confident of his team’s come back in the second Test commencing here today setting aside some claims that loss at Karachi has dented team’s confidence.

”It is a fact that we lost at Karachi but do not try to underestimate my team which is capable of making a comeback to give a surprise to the South Africans,” he said on the eve of second Test on Sunday.

Talat said his young team is still beaming with confidence and it is not fair to say that one defeat has shattered its confidence as it is playing Test cricket after a lapse of seven months.

”Look at the gap in between we had, but in spite of our defeat in the opening Test we are

fully determined and composed for a comeback which our opponents may not be expecting,” he said.

Talat said victory and defeat are the parts of the game and one defeat does not mean the end of cricket for Pakistan as the team has yet to play a Test and one-day matches.

”If we do not have a chance to win the series at least we can level it by winning the second Test and our goal is to strike a win,” he said.

The former Test batsman was of the view that the team has a strong batting line-up and the inclusion of former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf will certainly be an added advantage for the team to lift the level of its performance.

”We have young talent with us and then there are two of the world’s best batsmen (Inzamam and Yousuf) in the team so what else do we require to make our batting line-up superior. What we need now is the right approach and sheer concentration to make amends for our previous showing at Karachi,” he said.

He said Inzamam, who is appearing in his last Test match, is eager to put up a good performance to end his glittering career on a memorable note and Yousuf, who is coming after a brief break, is also in high spirits to score bulk of runs.

”The overall spirit in our camp is high and we are looking forward to another challenge as South Africa is in an upbeat mood and we have to produce a performance which could make strong impact on them,” he said.
