Without any doubt, Shoaib Akhtar is the key in the Indian tour, which is about to start. Pakistan hopes returning paceman Shoaib Akhtar can bowl the team to victory and glory in the ODI and Test series to clinch the lost respect during South Africa’s tour to Pakistan.
Pakistan recalled the Akhtar in the last ODI against South Africa, after he finished serving a 13-match ban for hitting a team-mate with a bat during practice. It’s a great opportunity for Shoaib Akhtar to regain his name, and wash away the dark spots upon his career and personalities. It’s also a very good chance for Pakistan to avenge their defeat in the Twenty20 world cup, and clinch the series by defeating India in India.
For winning in India, Shoaib Malik has to use Shoaib Akhtar as our main bowler in the hope of bringing the best out of him. The 32-year-old Shoaib Akhar, who is also called as Rawalpindi Express was suspended and given a 3.4 million rupee ($56,000) fine for hitting fellow bowler Mohammad Asif and indulging in fight with other team members, and also for calling the press conference afterwards.
Shoaib Malik has also said that he has great confidence in Akhtar, and by his return, team has gain new wave of bubbling confidence, and now the pace attack is at par with the international standards. Skipper also said that a fit and fine Shoaib Akhtar, who has been plagued with injuries and scandals this year and before, is an asset for the team as Pakistan looked ahead to the tour of India.
Akhtar is the one who is making a strong and certainly the last comeback. He is capable of toppling any team in the world, including his own team. He is a two-edged sword, and one can only hope that he only harms others.More on:India, Pakistan, Pakistan in India 2007, Shoaib Akhtar
