Salahuddin vs Miandad

At one side, Pakistan team is doing shopping in New Delhi, and on the other side Javed Miandad and Salahuddin Sallu have locked the horns with each other.

After a very fishy defeat in the ODI series, and before that after a thorough spanking in the Test series received by Pakistan from Proteas, many former cricketers as usual criticized the team, team management, selection committee and the board. Though some did in good faith, most of them just opened their bladders to spray their grudges and frustration.

Javed Miandad may be a controversial coach, but it would be highly unfair to doubt upon his good intentions and his faith. He has always been doing the series review, and a world acknowledges his point of view, and if one fairly analyzes his findings, he really doesn’t talk rubbish, he rather gives voice the general public opinion in a calculated, provable, logical and professional way.

As per routine, after the completion of the current series of South Africa and Pakistan, Miandad did autopsy of the series in a cool way. He pointed out the right things in the right fashion. He once again criticized the policy of the selection committee to rotate the same failed and tried faces again and again. He once again stressed PCB to abolish the vicious cycle of openers, and introduce new faces.

Miandad once again suggested PCB to find a genuine all-rounder. He also criticized the fielding standard, the dropping of catches, shameless in competency of Kamran Akmal behind the wickets, and he also lashed at the non-stingy bowling of so-called pace attack. He also didn’t like the running between the wickets, and he also didn’t like the symbolic role of the coach, and also he said things against the player power in the team.

Salahuddin didn’t like it that much, and called Miandad an old idiot. Miandad also got stunned over the severe reaction of Salahuddin Sallu, the chief selector of Pakistani cricket team, and said that Salahuddin should accept the constructive criticism, and it’s a norm in the international arena that all the former players review the performance on merit, and that is what exactly he did.

I am secretly wishing that after the long fiasco between Dr. Nasim Ashraf and Senator Anwar Baig, perhaps I would get a new salty n spicy new affair between Miandad and Sallu.
