PCB’s Wait

Written by Commoner on August 12th, 2007   (382 views)

Newly dropouts from the twenty20 world cup, Pakistan’s premier batsman Mohammad Yousaf, and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq hasnt yet signed the central contract, and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the deadline to 15 August from 10th August.

PCB is still adamant to accept that both players aren’t willing to be dropped out of the twenty20 world cup, and despite all of the protest from the former senior cricketers, cricketing fans across the country, and from the players themselves, PCB is still following its dogged policy of giving chance to the fresh blood, as though the experienced blood is a stale blood. It would be a good idea to drop Younis Khan instead of Mohammad Yousuf.

Twenty players have received the central contract and sixteen have signed it out including Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif. Its quite a painful thing to see an exquisite player like Mohammad Yousuf been ruled out of the twenty20 world cup. His experience is an asset for the Pakistan.

Javed Miandad, former Pakistani coach, skipper, and one of the best batsman world has ever seen, has also shown his utter disbelief over PCB’s decision to skip elegant Yousuf from the twenty20 world cup. He has been criticizing PCB’s action for many months, but this time, he said that its really beyond belief and he has no words to even express his anger and disbelief. Sarfraz Nawaz, Abdul Qadir and many others have also shown their disapprobation over this tragic decision by the PCB.

Influx of fresh blood is good and nice thing and there is no question about the fact that we should start preparing for the future, as we haven’t got that much experience and quality in the team, but the decisions should be made according to the logic and ground realities. How could you drop Mohammad Yousuf and not Younis Khan is beyond every sensible thing.
