In an amazing outburst Pakistan Cricket Board has shown a rare show of throwing wrath at English county cricket and upon Australian Cricket Board. It seems it wasn’t a very good day for Dr. Nasim Ashraf at home, and he exuded his anger at such untouchable affairs.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that national fast bowlers won’t be allowed to take part in 2008 county season in England. Pakistan’s three bowlers have been invited to take part in the county season from different counties in the 2008 season. Pakistan hasn’t shown any problems with the county cricket at the official level ever, and it’s a shocker to see such a reaction from them this time.
PCB’s chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi was as aloof as he has always been when he revealed to media in a grave voice that English county has been damaging the bowlers for quite a while and it has not standards. He also said that PCB wont allow his players especially the fast bowlers to take part in the county cricket, and especially those bowlers who will sign new contract with PCB from January 1st, 2008.
He said that players get fitness problems due to the participation in county cricket, and that is why Danish Kaneria was not in his top form in India. So no player will be allowed to go to England in the season. He also said that Mohammad Asif was also injured and his elbow was affected after rigorously playing in the English county.
PCB is in no mood to take any chances this time, after an ignominious defeat in India, and the way the talent is lacking in the team, and the shortage of bench strength. They have become so desperate that they are not even in the mood to release a bowler like Rao Iftikhar Anjum.
In a second statement he said that Australia has to play series against Pakistan in coming March in Pakistan, and PCB won’t shift the series at some neutral venue in any case. He said that series could be cancelled but it cannot be shifted, no matter what. Aussies are due to play in Pakistan in March and that series will include three test matches and five one day internationals.More on:Australia, county cricket, Danish Kaneria, england, Mohammad Asif, PCB, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Shafqat Naghmi
