PCB upholds penalty on A team players

Captain Hasan Raza and three other members of Pakistan A cricket team were penalised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday for breaching players’ code of conduct during the A team’s recent visit to Abu Dhabi for Eurasia Cup.

The decision in this connection was taken by the PCB after receiving the detailed report of Pakistan A team’s manager. It was decided that the disciplinary action was taken against the following players including skipper Hasan Raza, Taufeeq Umar, Misbah-ul-Haq and Zulqarnain Haider, said a PCB release issued here on Sunday.

According to the manager’s report no blame can be attached to the players who were travelling in a car but the driver of the car was detained for over-speeding while the players were detained because they were not carrying their visas with them and were released immediately after the manager had presented the copies of their visa documents. However, the four players were in breach of their code of conduct by proceeding from Abu Dhabi to Dubai without the manager’s permission.

All four players have already been penalised one-day’s earning ($300) by the manager, the release said.

The PCB has decided to reprimand the four players for the breach of conduct. The penalty of $300 imposed by the manager has been upheld by the PCB. All four players will be free to continue playing domestic cricket, the release added.
