Pakistan’s Defeat in Test Series Against South Africa

There is no remorse present in the Pakistan Cricket Board over the defeat in the test series against South Africa. Nor the team players are showing any sign of gloom or sadness over the thorough defeat of home team by the Protean team. Even the captain Shoaib Malik, after the post match ceremony didn’t talk much about it, whereas the vice captain Salman Butt was as indifferent as anybody and told media that its just part of the game and nothing else.

South Africa won the first test match of the series in Karachi with a resounding performance, and almost won the 2nd test match in Lahore, when Pakistan nail-bitingly and pathetically managed to draw the match. Though had it been a professional and brave team like Australia or even Sri Lanka, they would have tried to win the match. But Pakistani batsmen were considering it a big achievement to draw the match. Pakistanis are looking as hapless in front of South African in their home grounds and in front of their home crowd, as they were looking in South Africa last year. At the last day of second test match, when Mohammad Yousaf on 63 and skipper Shoaib Malik on 20 were dragging it around, match referee graciously terminated the match.

Then we saw a mock display of hypocrisy and artificiality where Inazamam, who played the last test match in exchange of the deal that if he allowed to finish his test career with “regard”, and be given 10 million rupees, only then he would stop luring Pakistani players towards ICL. Dr. Nasim Ashraf bode farewell to Inzi with heavy heart and in a fed up style, whereas other players were also indifferent and were only waiting to get home. It’s certainly a good riddance. One wonders when we would be able to get rid of Younus Khan and Kamran Akmal and the list goes on. Has the talent dried up in Pakistan?

After that all the team members gathered to say good bye to their former captain Inazamam-ul-Haq, who is all set to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) in exchange of loads of money. PCB has also given permission to five other players which include Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik. PCB failed to convince these players despite of giving them millions of rupees. But there bellies are far much bigger than few million of rupees, and IPL has got bigger pockets.
