South Africa is in a cruise mood after thrashing Pakistan in the test series. They are enjoying every bit of their stay here, even the racist chants by the crowds. Weaknesses and hollow plight of Pakistan cricket team is more obvious than ever. In the test series, they were nowhere near to the world class, and it was an easy win for South Africa. South Africa clobbered Pakistan in Pakistan, as they scare the hell out of them in South Africa.
Now One Day Series has started, and the first ODI is being played at Lahore. There is nothing much to write home about regarding the Pakistani squad. Same old goats with same old tails. Pakistani fans once again have to suffer the failed opening partnership, and nobody even knows who the hell will open the innings. Will it be the disgusting Kamran Akmal once again with dreadful Salman Butt, or we will have to bear Mohammad Hafeez with dirty bandana. Whoever it would be, it would be a shock, if they became able to render a good start.
The biggest reason, why every Pakistani feels pain in the guts over the failure of opening is that then have to suffer the terrible Younus Khan, who with his nauseating smile, loathsome gum chewing, and terrible batting screws the overall morale of the team. His ignominious early departure always remains on the cards. Then we have Mohammad Yousuf, who seems to be focusing more on how to milk Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) more in the name of Indian Cricket League or Indian Premier League.
Then there is Shoaib Malik, who has suddenly found a desire to bat with seriousness. What a pity. When he was a common player in the team, he never tried that hard, and always showed a callous and indifferent attitude. Now as he is a captain, he seemed desperate, so Pakistan can expect some runs from him. Misbah-ul-Haq, the fallen hero of Twenty20 World Cup final is also wishy washy, and he is so so. Then there is the stale, dumb and useless garbage, which goes by the name of “Boom Boom Afridi”, who never delivers. Look at his average, look at his batting career, its all littered with failures and disappointments, but this man has earned a lots and lots of wealth and has done a huge favor to his posterity for 100 years to come.
Then come the bowlers. Who in his right mind can call them serious bowlers? There is no real pace and there is no real sting. Rao Iftikhar, Umar Gul are beaten horses. Mohammad Asif is the second rate bowler, and doesn’t know a thing about attack. Perhaps we have seen the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, that is why we are so frustrated over these pathetic bowling attack. Please, don’t allow me to talk about fielding.
Whereas South Africa just rocks in every department. Pollock, Steyn, Ntini, and host of others in bowling. Kallis, Gibbs, and others in batting, and there are immaculate in their fielding. There is not match whatsoever between the two times. Pakistan can only win, if South Africa chokes, which they only do in the crunch matches of crunch tournaments. So there is very little hope.More on:Dale Steyn, Graeme Smith, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Misbah ul Haq, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Yousuf, Mukhaya Nitini, Pakistan, Rao Iftikhar, Shahid Afridi, Shaun Pollock, Shoaib Malik, South Africa, South Africa in Pakistan 2007, Umar Gul, Younis Khan
