Nauman Alvi helps Pakistan CC into semis

Promising teenaged left-arm spinner Nauman Alvi captured five wickets for just 12 runs in eight overs, as Pakistan Cricket Club moved into the semifinals of the Lion Mohammad Irfan Sheikh-Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, by defeating Khizra Sports Club by seven wickets, here at the TMC Cricket Ground on Friday.

Wicket-keeper/batsman Sarfraz Ahmed, who was captain of the champion Pakistan team at the Under-19 World Cup competition in Sri Lanka earlier this year, distinguished himself by effecting four dismissals behind the stumps.

Off-spinner Tabish Nawab assisted Nauman Alvi with figures of 2-14 for Pakistan CC while opening batsman Asad Shafiq scored 49 runs with the help of four boundaries.

Scores: Pakistan CC beat Khizra Sports Club by 7 wickets at TMC Ground. Khizra Sports 148 in 32.3 overs (Arshad Azam 44 5×4, Faisal Mirza 19; Nauman Alvi 5-12, Tabish Nawab 2-14). Pakistan CC 149-3 in 29.4 overs (Asad Shafiq 49 4×4, Fazal Subhan 39; Abdul Qadir 2-17).
