Namaz and Pakistan Cricket

Circles across the country disliked the statement by P.J Mir, the media manager of Pakistan cricket team in which he tried to attach the ignominious defeat with the Namaz. After recording his statement in front of committee which is investigating the implications of defeat in the world cup, in a chitchat with journalists he said that players were focused on “other” things instead of giving importance to the task at hand. He said that players offered the “Azan” and Namaz in the plane. Some other “modern enlightened” people are also showing their utter “disbelief” upon this behaviour of Pakistani team during the world cup.

True, Pakistani team performed like hell. They sucked throughout the world cup and before it. Their skipper was adamant, dumb, stubborn and wasnt up to the par. Of course, they hadnt got any serious competitors in bowling, batting and fielding. Their wicket keeping and opening was awful and the combination of cricket board and selection team was as sub standard as the team. There is no doubt about the fact.

But its shocking that in an Islamic country people are blaming Namaz and religious activities for the defeat. Namaz differentiates between a Muslim and non-muslim. Namaz is mandatory. But what sort of Muslims these are who are making Namaz controversial. It is the duty of board official to strictly take notice of such blantant and shameless allegations and leash their media manager.
