Mystery of Pakistani Coach

After the mysterious death of their coach, Pakistani team is still unsure about their next coach, as the selection and appointment of their next coach has also become a mystery. Right after the demise of Bob Woolmer, a flame war started between former national players and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about this top job.

PCB was never interested in appointing a Pakistani for the jon, due to the many reasons. The reasons are not very clear, but they are more or less based on the past experience, where whenever the national coach is placed, team became more entangled in dressing rooms skirmishes. Players dont give much respect to a local, and dont really think him up to the mark. They think that these former players are a thing of past and are unaware of the modern day cricket.

Whatever the reasons, PCB has ruled out any national coach for now, and is concentrating on foreign faces. The search committee of PCB has started reflecting on a filtered list of 5, after going through all the applications received after the death of Bob Woolmer, in reply of PCB advertisement. The search committee is analyzing the next prospective coach on several yard-sticks including experience and qualification.

The search committee consists of three members; Mudassir Nazar, Zakir Khan and Imtiaz Ahmed. This committee has filtered out 5 names, and now this committee would finalize ad short list 3 names and submit them to the adhoc committee. Then the adhoc committee will interview these three coahces and then give the final verdict. The names of these 5 or 3 potential candidates are still yet another mystery, because PCB has refused to disclose them. But one thing is for sure that all of these names are not local.

There is also a very strong chance that the next coach could be an un-familiar face in the cricket circles. Adhoc committee would finalize two names, and then the chairman PCB would interview these two and would select the final candidate. According to many, this whole chain of selecting a coach is an eye-wash and waste of money, resources and time and PCB has internally decided that the Englishman Tim Boon would be the next coach.
