Director National Cricket Academy (NCA), Mudassar Nazar, said here on Wednesday the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved to buy a bio-mechanics machine which will be installed at the academy. He was addressing a press conference to highlight the performance of the NCA so far.

“The most modern equipment which will cost Australian $400,000 will be installed in next six months and Australian experts will come to impart knowledge regarding operation of the machine,” he said.

He said the gadget will help in identifying various faults in cricketers regarding bowling, batting and other aspects and in the light of these mentioned weak areas remedial measures will be taken to eradicate cricketing techniques and faults of the cricketers at the beginning of their careers.

“It would specially help us in checking bowling action of bowlers,” he said. Mudassar Nazar expressed his satisfaction over the working of the NCA where its first programme of five weeks had already been started from July 10.

“I am satisfied with the appointments made at the NCA and for all the regional Academies,” he asserted. He said he recommended the name of some coaches which were finally approved by the PCB.

“The PCB has also earmarked Rs 60 millions for the National and regional cricket academies and I firmly believe with this huge financial support to run these institutions on modern lines we will be able to produce quality cricketers under a long term plan and programme,” he maintained.

Mudassar also informed that in view of the forthcoming tours of academy teams from Bangladesh and Nepal, and Indian U-19 team and the commencement of Inter-Regional U-19 Tournament, the time period of the national academy at the NCA had restricted to five weeks but the regional academies will continue to run for six weeks.

Answering a question he said Pakistan will badly miss the services of express bowler Shoaib Akhtar during the Pakistan-England Test series starting with the first Test at Lord’s today (Thursday).

“Shoaib has a double edge in terms of speed and pace which make him a fearsome bowler having the ability to bowl out the opponents,” he added.
