IPL Offer to Pakistani Players

The administration of Indian Premier League (IPL) is conducting the IPL series next year in India. In the wake of IPL, they have contacted six Pakistani players, which include Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, all-rounder Shahid Afridi, fast bowler Mohammad Asif and the controversial pacer Shoaib Akhtar. It is reported that Shoaib Malik, the skipper of Pakistani team has also been approached in this manner.

It is also reported that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after much hassle, has unwillingly permitted Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Akhtar to play in IPL. Mohammad Asif and Shahid Afridi are still trying to get the no objection certificate from the PCB, and board is still very much adamant to not to allow Shoaib Malik to play in IPL. Though still, Mohammad Asif has got to make the choice of playing in IPL or playing in the English country cricket from Surrey.

PCB has also directly contacted with IPL, and have informed them about their permission and have also asked them to not to run their massive enticing campaign against the players, as PCB is now willing to allow some players for IPL. Though initially PCB tried hard to keep the players home by giving them huge chunks of money, but it seems that Pakistani player’s appetite for money is insatiable.

PCB has also asked IPL to not make any final decision regarding Shoaib Akhtar, as PCB still hasnt decided his career for sure. Though things are moving in positive direction for Shoaib Akhtar as Shahid Afridi has said that he has forgiven Shoaib, and the real root cause of all the evil in this matter is the brother of Shoaib Akhtar, who fans the fire. The disciplinary committee of PCB under the head of Dr. Shafqat Naghmi now also seems somewhat soft towards the Rawalpindi Express, and it seems that Shoaib will get another chance, perhaps the last one after a nominal fine and small ban.

Lawyer of Shoaib Akhtar Abid Munto has also said that he has tried his best to present the Shoaib’s case on sympathetic grounds, as he has nowadays very disturbed mentally due to some domestic affairs, and he is also very shameful over his conduct and has pleaded guilty. Abid Munto said that Mohammad Asif and Shahid Afridi have also requested the committee to take the matter in light manner, and they have no real grudge against the pindi pacer. Perhaps they all three wanted to play IPL along. Again, if PCB really wants to undermine the IPL, it should allow Shoaib Akhar and Shahid Afridi at once.
