Inzamam wants 300-plus lead
Pakistan cricket team’s captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is eyeing a first-innings lead of over 300 runs against England in the fourth Test here at The Oval but is aware that wet London weather can ruin his plans of ending the otherwise forgettable series with an emphatic win.
“We are in a great position to win this Test and a lead of 300 to 350 would get us the sort of result we want,” Inzamam said on Friday.
Pakistan bowled out England for 173 and then looked set to coast to a sizeable total with good knocks from openers Imran Farhat and Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Yousuf.
Pakistan look in a perfect position to end their disappointing run of results in a series that they have already lost 0-2 by winning here but rainy weather can spoil their party.
Several overs were lost on the opening day while showers stopped action for longer periods on Friday. The forecast for the next few days is not encouraging either and that has been worrying Inzamam. “I hope that the weather allows us enough time to win this match,” he said.
