Inzamam told to mind his own business

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday took a swipe at former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq over what it termed was his unjustified criticism of current captain Shoaib Malik and PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf.

A Board spokesman told The News that Inzamam was off the mark in hitting out at Ashraf and Malik.

Shoaib Malik enjoys the confidence and support of the PCB and the selectors and he has good leadership qualities to motivate the team for producing desired results, said Mansur Sohail, the Boards media chief.

In a recent interview Inzamam launched a scathing attack on Malik calling him a weak captain and stressing that the all-rounder is incapable of leading Pakistan. He also fired and criticised the PCB and its chief Nasim Ashraf.

Inzamam suggested that Pakistan would have been better off if they had either Younis Khan or Mohammad Yousuf as their captain.

Sohail said that PCBs policies are aimed at boosting Pakistan cricket and said that the current Board set-up has a number of achievements to its credit. He pointed out that under Ashraf, the PCB managed to get the result of the infamous Oval Test as drawn. He pointed out that it was under the captaincy of Inzamam that Pakistan forfeited that Test.
