Inzamam to lead Pakistan in ICC Trophy

Inzamam-ul-Haq, who is facing an International Cricket Council (ICC) disciplinary hearing, will lead the Pakistan squad in next month’s ICC Champions Trophy in India.

Inzamam faces two charges — of ball tampering and that of bringing the game into disrepute at the hearing on September 27 or 28.

He could face a maximum ban of eight one-day Internationals (ODIs) and four Tests under the ICC code of conduct regulations.

The squad for the competition was announced on Wednesday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The preliminary phase of the Champions Trophy begins on October 7 and the group stage starts on October 15. The final will be held on November 5 at Mumbai. Pakistan will play their first match at the ICC Trophy against a qualifier team on October 17.
