Inzamam confident of Pakistan performance in ICC Trophy

Pakistan cricket team’s captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has expressed confidence that his boys will deliver their best in next month’s International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy in his absence.

Inzamam, after being banned for four One-day Internationals (ODIs) after the two-day ICC hearing in London on Thursday in the aftermath of The Oval fiasco, will miss the ICC Trophy to be played from October 7 in India.

The Pakistani captain said that his four-match suspension would not affect the team’s performance in the Champions Trophy, saying one man’s absence in one-dayers does not count much. “I’ve full confidence in my boys and they’ll definitely play well in the coveted event against the top nations,” Inzamam told a local TV channel from London after the (ICC) verdict.

“I cant guarantee success but one thing is for sure that the team is balanced and will display their best in the next month’s event,” Inzamam stated.

He added: “The conditions there (in India) suits our side and we have a great chance of winning the title.”

The Pakistani skipper said that middle-order batsman Younis Khan would be an automatic choice for captaincy, adding the substitute for himself (Inzamam) will be decided later.
