In this match Rahul Dravid, the captain of India won the toss and elected to bat first. From Indian side, Gotham Gambhir and Virender Sehwag initiated the innings, where as Srilanks pace attack was opened by Mushrafe Murtaza and Syed Rasul.

Indian batsman, Gotham Gambhir showed the exuberance of youth, while promising for the future. He scored a scintillating 101 runs with the help of 11 royal fours. He scored his second one day international (ODI) century and clean bowled by Syed Rasul.

India won the series of three matches, by winning this second match by 46 runs. Chwala’s bowling and Gambhir’s batting played a key role in the win of Indians in Sher Bangla stadium. The match was restricted to 49 overs, due to rain. India scored 284 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Bangladesh required 285 runs to win in 49 overs. In reply Bangladesh managed to score 238 runs in 49 overswith the loss of 9 wickets.

When the match started, Indian openers, Sehwag and Gambhir scored 43 runs for the first wicket partnership, then Sehwag was ousted by Syed Rasul whe Javed Omer caught him. Sehwag just scored 21 runs. Then Dhoni continued to show-off his returning form and the second wicket partnership between him and Gambhir lasted for 83 runs.

The combination of Mohammad Rafiq and Mushfiqur Rahim trapped Dhoni, when he was batting on 36. Then Yuvraj Singh went back begging just after scoring 21 runs. Dravid scored 42 precious runs. The rest of Indian batting wasnt as spectacular. Danish Mongia scored 17, Danish Karthik 6, Chawala 1 and Romesh Powar 5.

Bangladeshi start was dismal. Javed Omer and Tamim Iqbal started the innings, but both openers got out very early. Tamim Iqbal just scored 7 runs, and fell pray to Zaheer Khan. Javed Omer also took the exit way, when Karthik took his catch on the ball of Zaheer Khan. Zaheer Khan also killed in disdain the morale of Saqibul Hasan, and went out the Ashraful after scoring just 12 pitiful runs.

Aftab Ahmad brought some semblance of dignity to otherwise pathetic Bengali batting and scored nice 40 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim also tried to save the sinking ship and scored 35 runs, followed by a good innings full of fight by Habibul Basher, who scored 43 runs. Chawala on his debut took 3 wickets, while Zaheer and Yuvraj took 2 wickets each. India won the series by 2-0. The last match of the series will be played on 15 May.
