After creating a spectacular tussle with BCCI, ICL has now entangled itself with the other boards, especially with the Pakistani board. ICL is offering huge sums of money to the crickets world over. Brian Lara was the first international player to join the ICL, and he was soon followed by former Pakistani captain Inzamam-ul-haq, star-batsman Mohammad Yousuf, all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and opener Imran Farhat.
They all have linked themselves after getting bashed by the sharp light of enormous wealth. Our players have already got a bad image internationally. They have been found in all kinds of scandals. Whether its an issue of match fixing or issue of drinking or girls or doping or fights or brawls; Pakistani players are to be found in every case. After the four players, ICL is continuously enticing Mohammad Asif, Shahid Afridi and other players with huge money and benefits. Now in the ICL, Pakistani international players have the heavy presence. Even the Indian national team hasn’t given much importance to their own ICL.
ICL is the brainchild of Essel group, which is incorporated in India. Essel group will arrange matches in which national and international players would take part, and in the agreement between ICL and players, both will be called as party. The tournament which would be played under the eye of Essel group, would be called as Indian Cricket League or The League.
ICL season would comprise of 45 days, and players would be bound by a code of conduct. A player wont be able to disclose any information about weather or ground. Fifteen days before the start of ICL season, player wouldn’t play any match but the warm-up matches of ICL. For one season a player would get almost 200,000 US dollars, and on a brilliant performance would get extra rewards. Another interesting thing is that all types of clashes would be dealt by ICL board and in case of legal issues, only the Mumbai court would do the hearing.
Another interesting development is that PCB’s chairman Dr. Nasim Ashraf, upon his return from US, has taken a a very stern stance, and have said that the players who would play in ICL should consider themselves free of the Pakistani team. He also accused Mohammad Yousuf for sacrificing the honour of country for just some coins.More on:Abdul Razzaq, BCCI, Dr. Nasim Ashraf, Essel Group, icl, Imran Farhat, India, Inzamam, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Yousuf, Mumbai, Pakistan, PCB, Shahid Arfidi
