I am not frustrated by mishaps, says Sarwan

sarwanInjured West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan has said he was not frustrated with the mishaps he faced during the Pakistan tour and believed that an unlucky tour to this part of subcontinent has given him the opportunity to strengthen his nerves for a strong comeback.

“Finishing my tour of Pakistan with an injury and after getting dropped was unlucky but these things happen in cricket and I am not dejected on it,” wrote the Guyana born right-handed batsman in his diary on a web portal.

Sarwan, 26, had an unfortunate tour of Pakistan after he was ruled out of five One-day International (ODI) series due to hairline fracture on right foot, an injury he received from an incoming yorker from Pakistani pacer Umar Gul on the last day of the final Test at Karachi and as a result was advised six-week rest.

He was also dropped from the second Test at Multan after playing cheap innings 3 and 23 runs in the first Test at Lahore. But Sarwan, who has 4268 and 3724 runs in Tests and one-dayers respectively, is taking his ouster from the tour as a chance to reshape himself for a strong comeback.

“It’s an opportunity for me to come back stronger and I’m confident I will,” Sarwan, who will be packing his bag for home in couple of days, said. He however said that he would not be resting completely in the meantime and will work on upper body by spending time at gym. Commenting on his team’s show in the Test series, Sarwan said a lot of positive things came out of the Tests for his team despite losing the series 0-2.
