Pakistan batting star Mohammad Yousuf said he is all set to support the team in the second Test against South Africa by demonstrating his usual style of cricket.
I was away from cricket for the past couple of months but during the past five days I did my best to be in a good shape to play my usual style of cricket, he said on the eve of the second Test here on Sunday.
Yousuf said Pakistan team is doing better with each passing day and was confident of its bright future. I rate my team as favourites for the Lahore Test, said Yousuf adding that the team did not do that bad at Karachi either. The second Test will not be that easy for South Africa as our players are now more focused and (better) prepared for a challenge, he said.
We also have Inzamam-ul-Haq now who can be a threat to the opponents, he added.
The ICC Test Player of the Year said he would be endeavouring to score maximum runs to lead his team to success. As far as I am concerned this Test will be my first game after a break but I am confident that I will perform the way I was doing in the past , he said.
He said he knows that people will be expecting a lot from him and he will try to come up to their expectations.
Patience and keeping yourself away from pressure is the key to success in Test cricket. I have been playing cricket with my head down without fearing the status of the opposition and that is why I was able to become the highest run-scorer in a year, for which I am thankful to God, he said.
Yousuf praised Captain Shoaib Malik for doing a fine job and said he has a bright future ahead as a captain and a batsman. He is a good all-rounder and a good captain. He can be an asset for the team in the years to come, he said.
He said the South Africans were in a high mood after their success at Karachi in the first Test but insisted that Pakistan team has all the potential to level the series by winning the decider.
The opponents have some good players like Smith, Kallis and Steyn but we have a strong batting line-up and a good bowling attack with both pacers and spinners. I am confident of my teams victory, he said.
