Inzamam-ul-Haq’s Code of Conduct hearing has been delayed further on the request of Pakistan’s lawyers and would now be held in London sometime around the end of next month, an International Cricket Council (ICC) official said here on Saturday.

The official said that the lawyers representing the Pakistan captain believe they need more time to prepare a strong case and would want the hearing to be stretched further. The game’s governing body has accepted the request and would fix the date of the hearing sometimes in the last week of September.

Inzamam was set to face the ICC charges of ball tampering and bringing the game into disrepute in the aftermath of The Oval Test on August 25 in London but the hearing was delayed after the ICC adjudicator Ranjan Madugalle expressed his unavailability to attend it due to family illness.

The ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed had the other day said that the hearing would be held after an important meeting of the ICC Executive Board in Dubai on September 2. The meeting has been called by the ICC President Percy Sonn and would discuss The Oval Test fiasco following revelations that Australian umpire Darrell Hair demanded money to step down from the Elite Panel of Umpires two days after forfeiting the fourth Test between Pakistan and England and awarding it to the hosts.

The ICC could ban Inzamam for up to ten one-dayers if charges against him are proved following the hearing.

But there are is a strong possibility that the hearing might not take place at all in case the ICC Executive Board reaches a conclusive agreement in Dubai over the issue.

The top bosses of leading ICC member nations would attend the moot to discuss the incident on the fourth day of the infamous The Oval Test and its aftermath.
