Founders of the game have never won the mega title but participate in every world cup with a unique vigor and strength. This world cup will be no different in terms of their yearn to win. They have always remained a formidable adversary against every opponent. They have the history to peak just before the world cup and so far they have repeated the history.

In the likely absence of Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff will be captaining the English team. He is the most crucial guy in the team. He is one of the most solidly built all-rounders in the world cricket. Most importantly he has got a fine cricketing brain at this tender age. He doesn’t sit back. He doesn’t bow to pressure. He doesn’t carried away by the blows and he fights against the harsh circumstances. He believes in strategy, timed execution and tactical analysis.

English team has given a new dimension to power plays. They don’t hit like hell in first 20 overs, rather they play it tactically, save their wickets and capitalize upon them afterwards. They don’t clout the white ball while its swinging in the first 15 overs but come hard upon it when it gets old and soft.

Domestically tagged as “One Match Wonder”, Andrew Strauss is the strike opener for England. If he gets going, things always look good for England from the start. Another player upon whom England would banking a lot is Paul Collingwood. He has been the most consistent batsman even in the nightmarish Ashes series of 2006. He has also got the gifted capability of getting crucial breakthroughs at the right times.

Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell are the other weapons. They haven’t shown their guts recently, but they have got enough firepower to dismantle the bad images. Liam Plunkett, Jamie Dalrymple and Ravinder Bopara are the good stroke players and have got fine talent to bowl.

The bowling department of England is quite fledgling, but very talented and full of promises. Monty Panesar, Jon Lewis, James Anderson and Sajid Mahmood are the forbearers of white ball in the world cup 2007. Rest assured, England will strive hard to prove their mettle.
