Australia Not Coming

Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland and Cricket Australia chairman Creagh O’Connor, both are very sad and dejected apparently over the cancellation of Australian tour to Pakistan, which is a prudent decision in these circumstances.

“We wish no loss to Pakistan Cricket Board and look forward to undertaking this tour in the near future,” CA chairman Creagh O’Connor said in a statement. “Our absolute priority has been the security and safety of our players and our employees,” Sutherland said. “We’ve left no stone unturned, we wanted to play this tour.”

And that is quite understandable. Given the back-to-back blasts in the Pakistani city of Lahore where Australia was planned to spend most of its time is being rocked by the terrorists attacks. Earlier Lahore was the favorite choice of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hold matches and Lahore was given preference over Peshawar, Quetta and Karachi because of better law and order situation, but now the things are also nasty and ugly in Lahore.

Though Bangladesh has conceded to come to Pakistan as a replacement of Australia, but that doesn’t warm the hearts of gloomy Pakistani fans. Though the minnows Bengalis are sure to provide some chicken feed to the Pakistani batsmen and bowlers, they are very hard to provide any recreation.

With the Aussie tour down the drain, now very dark clouds hang over the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup later this year in Pakistan.
